Finally!

Real life has been very demanding. Rest assured, however, that we will update this site fully. Updates may just take a while.

Nevertheless, we have two pretty chapter summaries for you to enjoy thanks to kawomankath: chapter 7 and 8.

Oy vey

It seems there was a small bug in the forums causing some passwords to scramble into lines of utter gibberish. The problem has been corrected. If you encounter any problems logging in, please let me know by e-mail. Just use the Contact Form and set "Password Change" as the subject. I'll change your password so you can log inand then you can revert it to the old one or use a new one.

I apologize for any distress this may have caused any of you.

Summaries for 5 and 6

I always loved it

Scholastic Book Fair will be selling a paperback version of The Host. If your schools are anything like my old school, rush in the first day and snatch all the good books! They disappear quickly! You can also browse many other interesting titles.

An Update

In The Novel section, there is a new sub-section for the covers and titles of the translations. So far, we have the titles and covers for Germany, Spain and Italy and publication date for the first two. Here's a small game for all of you: correctly identify which titles are a direct translation of The Host and which ones changed.

The Host Movie

A new affiliate now graces our list, this one related solely to the movie. The Host Movie is a site manned by THM, a member in our forums.

A note to consider: There are no plans for a movie yet. Anything regarding a movie or actors is speculation.

We're still alive

In May, the Index was chosen by Eclipse-la as their Site of the Month. Some difficulties arose so we got the award after May and then more difficulties arose so I couldn't update until now. I continue to defend that it wasn't my or Barb from Eclipse-la's fault; it was all part of a conspiracy. But, I finally managed to update.

We are incredibly honored to have been chosen. Just look at it! It's so pretty!

On a slightly related note, the same problems keeping me from updating the award also kept me from updating the summaries. Rest assured, we've worked our way through them and present three overdue summaries, which you can find in the Chapter Summaries section.

And finally, we are looking for volunteers to help the staff and I write the chapter summaries and character bios. If you would like to volunteer, just contact us at thi@thehostindex.net.

A Host Graphics Community

We are happy to have a new affiliate, a Host graphics community on Livejournal. The Host Graphics is a spectacular site run by Elisabeth (kissingdaylight on LJ) with some excellent artwork already. Here are two icons made by her:

Prologue and Chapter 1

No, we have not forgotten about the site. We've actually been working behind the scenes round the clock. And here are the first two fruits of our labor: chapter summaries for the Prologue and Chapter 1.

For fanfiction and fanart!

The Host Library, a Host-centric fanfiction and fanart archive run by the astoundingly talented Geographee, began its submission period June 6th. Until June 20th, you will be able to submit a fanfic and/or a drawing in hopes of becoming one of its authors. Already there are a few excellent pieces (including two by yours truly) and the site is beautiful. All information, including where to send your fanfic or fanart can be found here. Good luck to all who enter!

Go suggest your favorite actors!

Kim Voynar from Cinematical posted a short review about The Host and the possibility it has of being made into a movie (In her words, "it pretty much has 'adapt me into a movie, please!' written all over it"). She's also calling for you to suggest some of your favorite actors for the characters. Head over there and post who you would like to see in each role and don't forget to mention you came from The Host Index!
